43rd Annual NCWVHBA Home Show Wraps Up

On Sunday, April 25th we wrapped up our 43rd annual 3-day home show event at the Hazel and J.W. Ruby Community Center in Morgantown, WV. Each year, NCWVHBA is proud to bring some of our finest local residential contractors, remodelers, material suppliers, and service providers together in one place where they are able to showcase a variety of home improvement and outdoor living products and services. The Morgantown Home Show is designed to both assist small business owners with promoting their businesses, as well as provide homeowners with convenient access to home maintenance tools, materials, equipment, products, services, and opportunities to keep their homes in good repair, redecorate, renovate, and improve their lifestyles.

Demand High Despite Changes and Challenges

Notably, the dates of Home Show 2021 were moved from March to April this year. We were impacted by several additional factors, as well. Following the cancellation and rescheduling of this and countless other events locally and throughout the world as a result of issues related to COVID-19 in 2020 and into 2021, many appreciated the chance to get back to business. Although the building industry has experienced some uncertainty (including unprecedented volatility in lumber pricing, supply shortages, and mortgage rates among the lowest ever recorded) and factors such as social distancing and masking remain in place, we saw good attendance throughout the weekend. Demand for home construction and improvements remains at an exceptionally high level.

Homeowners and Vendors Committed to Starting Projects

We had 83 vendors set up in booths at Home Show 2021 in Mylan Park – and more than 3,000 guests were in attendance over the weekend, all eager to get started on their home improvement and construction projects. While these numbers do represent a decrease due to mandated pandemic protocol, the level of commitment of all involved made Home Show 2021 a success.

“That’s what we learned here—is that we learned how to adapt and make what we have to do work.”
– Chris Ilardi, NCWVHBA

Looking Forward

Contractors, business owners, and homeowners alike expressed appreciation at being able to meet face-to-face and make a more personal connection—something we have all been missing for quite some time. As we look forward, we hope to see more vendors and guests next year and we have reason to believe Home Show 2022 will be an even greater success.
